The United States raised relief map of Major Airports and Airspace is an attractive addition to any pilot's hangar, office, or home. Using an accurate raised-relief model of the contiguous 48 United States, this map identifies airports with class B, C, or D airspace or with commercial service, as well as military airports. Prohibited, SRFA, and restricted airspace is indicated by shaded areas. Like all aerocharts raised relief maps, this map is intended for general reference only, and not for navigation
It is available in three formats: fully framed and ready to hang in a black anodized aluminum frame (see the additional photos); mounted on foam-board and ready for you to frame yourself; or unframed, perfect for pinning to a bulletin board.
Please note: If you plan to order a frame-ready map, we recommend you order your frame after you receive the map. This will allow you to choose the frame depth and dimensions that will work best.
Each raised relief map starts as a map printed on a flat study sheet of vinyl. It is carefully registered over a 3D model that is made from USGS digital elevation model data. The vinyl is heated to make it pliable and a vacuum is created to form the map over the model. Take a look at the process below.
